SAFEGUARDING INFORMATION

We have a duty to ensure children are safe. In school we do this by making sure that everyone who comes into the building is suitable for working with children. We also work hard to minimise risk in the school grounds and building.

We are an Operation Encompass School

Operation Encompass is a partnership between police and schools.

One of the principles of Operation Encompass is that all incidents of domestic abuse are shared with schools, not just those where an offence can be identified.

Termly Safeguarding Assemblies for

Children in Years 1-6

During assemblies we talk to the children about how to keep themselves safe. We help the children understand that it is their right to be happy and safe and to encourage the understanding that any problem or worry that they may have is legitimate, and to share their worries – big or small – with their trusted adult; at home, at school, or with ChildLine.

The assemblies are led by our DSL Team and the content delivered in a sensitive and age appropriate way.

We aim to give children:

  • An understanding of different forms of abuse, including bullying, and an ability to recognise the signs of harm or abuse
  • Knowledge of how to protect themselves from all forms of abuse
  • An awareness of how to get help and sources of help, including ChildLine.
